Don’t Get the Flu
Fall is here and with it starts ye old flu season. Should you get shots? As a doctor I say yes. No one can predict the severity of this year’s type bug.
Why do you need to get a fresh shot when you had a flu shot last year?
These viruses mutate, change. The DNA of last year’s flu virus will be different than this year’s. They also change in toxicity. Whichever flu virus we have this year, older persons and people with illness are more susceptible to serious illness.
Smoking, including pipe and cigar increases susceptibility. It is shown that second hand smoke is also a factor.
The bugs get on your hands. You have been told to wash your hands, which is right. Which sanitizer is best? As of this writing, most experts recommend the wipes.
Which soap? Currently regular soap, such as Dial is recommended.
Why do you wash your hands? Actually the virus/bacteria can’t enter your body through unbroken skin. Normally the virus gets on your skin. Unconsciously you touch the inside of your nose or your eye. Here the virus can enter.
For most persons, the more vigorous your nasal cilia in moving out bacteria, the more unlikely you are to contract an illness. What speeds cilia?
Tea, lemon and honey
Humming
Hydro Pulse™ Nasal/Sinus Irrigation
What aids immunity?
Good Sleep
Good intestinal bacteria from yogurt and probiotics
I saw a movie last night where the sick flu person came to the office and infected everyone. Stay home please. Probably the best therapy for the flu is Netflix. Rent comedies.
What about vitamins? Probably Vitamin D3 helps. What is important in to take a reasonable dosage and not a toxic dose, which I see advertised all the time.
Possibly one of the family will get the flu. Yes, isolate them if possible. Sheets, clothes should be washed in 150 degree water if possible. Use bleach. Hang stuff to dry by air. Remember the old clothes lines where you hung stuff to dry in the sun? That killed viruses! Very important to air dry towels.
Wear mask around sick family. Important: make sure the mask is air tight and you are breathing through the mask.
I am serious about renting comedies. Laughter increases your immunity. Even just the act of faking a smile helps immunity factors.
