How to Improve Your Treatment
Medication Enhancement
In the best scientific studies, we find, for example, that 75% of the patients got well with the actual drug. But, 60% got well with the placebo. How did that happen?
Why did the placebo take away the pain, organize the body’s defense against infection, lower the blood pressure?
The way this happens:
a. The patient is getting attention, “sympathy,” and treatment, so she relaxes. With relaxation, more of the natural healing can take place.
b. The patient knows, for example, that the red pill blocks the histamine and stops the allergy symptoms. With those directions, she can visualize the red pill blocking histamine. So the brain does this because that is the scenario.
c. She took a red pill before that stopped her allergy; her body recalls that good effect.
d. With details given on how the pill works, she is able to visualize it working. She visualizes herself winning against the allergy!
e. Wanting to please the doctor mobilizes good hormones .
If you follow this script, for any treatment or medication, you can increase its effectiveness.
My patients get significant benefit here. When they use the pulse wave rhythm irrigation, the Hydro Pulse Nasal/Sinus Irrigator, they understand how the wave pulse rhythm gets the nasal cilia moving better; they can recall how good it felt to wash out the stale mucus from the nose and breathe well again. They recall seeing the stale mucus leave the body and drip into the sink. With this visualization, the Hydro Pulse irrigation is much more effective. Indeed, for some of my patients, when they feel congestion or allergy coming on, all they need to do is recall using the Hydro Pulse, go into the bathroom to prepare the irrigation, and then their nose opens up, and they don’t need to do the irrigation at all!
This is part of the reason why these Hydro Pulse users get so few infections or sinus problems any more- the mind is utilized to help in the treatment.
Other steps that help clear sinus and allergy is tea, lemon and honey. That is green and black tea, with or without caffeine. The tea has L-theonine that improves immunity and stimulates cilia movement. The lemon thins the thick mucus. The honey is bacteriostatic. If you visualize the tea getting the cilia moving and thinning the mucus, that makes it work better.
My patient, Jane, age 24, called me Friday at 5 to make an appointment. She had been coughing for three weeks. She had seen a family doctor, an internist, and a pulmonologist. All had prescribed for her and yet she was still coughing. We made an appointment for the following Tuesday. She called Monday to cancel the appointment. Her grandmother had visited her, had made her chicken soup, and the soup had stopped her coughing.
Chicken soup does have good products for cough and cilia activation, so there is a physiological reason for this benefit. Still, I believe that recalling how much this soup helped her previously, did engage her brain in the healing.
Another way to employ medication enhancement. If you have a chronic sinus condition, try “ooooommmm.” The vibration of this sound physically breaks up mucus and at the right pitch, activates cilia movement. If you visualize this working, and relax so that your brain is engaged, you get a better result.
