Cure Your Snoring by Singing

SNORING CURE by Singing

Snoring can be annoying and a serious detriment to a happy conjugal life. Never underestimate the harm that poor sleep can bring. Although there are various procedures that can help this problem, the doctors at Tower ENT prefer to clear the snoring by SIMPLE means if possible. Here are recommendations that help:

Speech therapists use throat exercises to strengthen the throat muscles and make throat tissue stiffer with less fat. Forceful mouth blowing can be therapeutic. Any forceful blowing – trumpet, blowing a balloon, the didgeradoo – all these strengthen the throat muscles and reduce snoring. Try these throat exercises.

Throat exercises:
These throat exercises reduce snoring:
Hold the tongue on the hard palate. Say the vowel sounds. Move the tongue around as you do these. Do three minutes on each vowel.
Place the tongue in front of the roof of the mouth. Then slide it all the way to the back of the roof of the mouth.
Pronounce vowels rapidly for 3 minutes.
Press the tongue hard against the hard palate. Press frequently.
Press the tip of the tongue into just behind the incisor teeth while pushing the back of the tongue into the floor of the mouth.
Blow up a balloon by sniffing air in hard through the nose and forcing it out hard against the balloon.
Swallow keeping the tongue on the roof of the mouth.

These exercises need to be done for 3 minutes each. It takes time to build and strengthen muscles by exercise and the throat is no exception.

Anytime your nose plugs up, you get snoring whether it is a sinus condition or a simple cold. Keeping the nose clear by pulsatile irrigation is important because drainage from the nose that drips into the throat can cause enlarged throat muscles or a swollen uvula, which results in snoring. Use the throat attachment that comes with your pulsatile irrigator to reduce the swelling/edema of the tonsils and throat tissues. The pulsing irrigation acts like any gentle massage to reduce swelling and strengthen the muscles. Stronger muscles prevent the uvula and tongue from falling back in sleep.

It is important to differentiate between sleep apnea where the breathing is actually blocked by swollen tissue vs regular social snoring-where, despite the loud sounds, there are no periods of lack of oxygen to the brain. Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition and should never be neglected. CPAP where air if forced to bypass some obstruction to breathing that causes snoring is usually effective here.

Patients differ significantly in their anatomy. For the average patient, the throat exercises, clearing the nose and sinuses by pulsatile irrigation and strengthening throat muscles using the Hydro Pulse® throat irrigator massage, can be a better alternative to surgery.
